The weight used to stop boats at sea is called anchor or anchor. Anchors are attached to the chain link of the boat with a chain and rope, called a hook eye. The extension allowance given to this chain and rope at sea is called "slack". Dropping anchor is called "heather iron" and retrieving anchor from the sea is "weigt anchor". During anchoring, care should be taken to ensure that the chain and rope flow smoothly from the chain link. The anchor is not thrown into the water quickly, and the boat is allowed to move back slowly after the anchor is dropped.

If only chains are used, 4 times the depth should be left in the slack, if 5 meters of chain and rope are used, 6 times the depth, and if only ropes are used, 10 times the depth should be left in the slack.

While anchoring, the chain is hit on the bosa. Anchoring is communicated with special signs to communicate with the captain, not by calling out.
