Mersin Marina, which operates with the concept of an urban marina, and Mersin University Faculty of Maritime Studies continue their efforts to bring together academia and the private sector.

As part of a visit following comprehensive discussions with Prof. Dr. Nur Jale ECE, Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies at Mersin University, on sectoral knowledge and maritime education, future marina managers gained insights into fieldwork and operations. Mehmet GÜNASLAN, Operations Manager of Mersin Marina, was a guest speaker in Dr. Lecturer Gökçe TUĞDEMİR KÖK’s course on "Marine Tourism," where he shared information about marina operations and management. GÜNASLAN also provided industry-specific insights and emphasized the real-world contributions of the maritime education students receive at university. As part of TUĞDEMİR KÖK’s course on “Yachting and Marina Management,” students visited Mersin Marina, where they observed the boatyard and port areas. They had the opportunity to experience many aspects on-site, from haul-out and launch operations to secure mooring, and posed practical questions to the experienced team.
