Mersin Marina Meets with Future Seafarers
Mersin Marina, which operates with a “city marina” concept, continues to foster collaborations aimed at bringing together academia and the private sector with Mersin University Faculty of Maritime Studies.
As part of the “Academy Meeting” organized by the Faculty of Maritime Studies and the Sea Ambassadors Community, a special session was held where Mersin Marina Manager Mehmet Günaslan and his management team met with students. The opening speech of the event—where theoretical education was supported by the experiences of industry professionals—was delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies, Prof. Dr. Nur Jale Ece. Held in the Faculty’s Conference Hall with strong participation, the session concluded with a Q&A segment followed by the presentation of certificates of appreciation.
Within the scope of the “Yachting and Marina Management” course conducted by Dr. Gökçe Tuğdemir Kök from the Department of Maritime Business Administration, students visited Mersin Marina. During the visit, they toured the shipyard area and port facilities, gaining the opportunity to observe many processes on-site, from haul-out and launching operations to safe mooring practices. Students were also able to directly ask their questions about operations and procedures to the port and shipyard chiefs, reinforcing their theoretical knowledge through hands-on experience.
